Montana Laws That May Affect Your Library
 
Open Meeting Law MCA 2-3-201 – library boards are required to follow this law and hold open meetings.
 
Interlocal Agreements MCA 7-11-101 thru 7-11-108 – if your library has contracted with the city, county, or school to provide library services you probably have an interlocal agreement.
 
Multijurisdictional Service Districts MCA 7-11-1101 thru 7-11-1112 – a few libraries in Montana are arranged under this law.
 
Property Tax Levies MCA 15-10-401 thru 15-10-425 – many libraries receive funding through mill levies. These laws define mill levies and explain the procedure for calculating a mill levy.
